QFN_package.jpg

Fig.1        typical dimension of QFN package

Above is the typical dimension specification for QFN package. I cann't find the corresponding "T1" as in Fig.1 in the DRS4 documents, nor any of the tolerance of the dimensions, which are usually expressed in the form of  a range between a min. value and a max. value.

So will you specify the dimension of "T1" and "W1", and the dimension tolerance of them?

Thanks and best wishes!

 Dear Mr. S. Ritt

i am Ms. student , am working with your DRS4 board to calculate the time of flight of the cosmic particle which passes trough  the hodoscope . i see the signals at scope , which is negative (i don't want to take positive side of the signal).

i am using your drs_exap.cpp file to  take the data, i set the analog trigger source , threshold level is negative, like this(b->SetTriggerLevel(-30, true) ); but the exam file also registers the positive side of signal (i think  that is spike or internal reflection), is it possible to eliminate this spike? Also i want to register  the data just after the threshold value, but that is always triggered, i think that caused from the mode. Is it possible to set the trigger mode to normal in exam file?,and  how can i do that?

Best regards.

Sincerely,

 Ali YILMAZ (ali.yilmaz@roma1.infn.it)

Please note that SetTriggerLevel(level, polarity) needs "level" in volts, not millivolts, so you need SetTriggerLevel(-0.3, true). The trigger mode is not specified with any library call, but depends on what your program does. If you always poll on IsBusy(), then you are already in "normal" mode. The auto mode can only be achieved on the user application level by doing an "artifical" trigger by calling SoftTrigger() if there are no hardware triggers for a certain time.

Hey. Yes, the program is running as administrator. By the way, this is win10. Your drs_exam works fine. My drs_exam compiled wrote no board found. Maybe this is a problem like in the post https://elog.psi.ch/elogs/DRS4+Forum/698. Maybe there were solutions to the problems?

Thank You

Hello. When compiling drs_exam, do you need to use a "static "version of usblib or a "dynamic" version?"The problem with "no board found" is not solved. Thanks for your help.

"dynamic" or "static" does not matter, as long as you don't use your program on another computer. I have no more idea about the "no board found" problem. It works ok on all computers I tried at our lab.

I have a very similar problem, the command line doesn't work but the oscilloscope program does! Tried to fix it using Zadig driver update. Using Windows 7....

DRS command line tool, Revision 21435
Type 'help' for a list of available commands.

USB successfully scanned, but no boards found
No DRS Boards found

For completion, I just tested that the test program gives the same error message

C:\Program Files (x86)\DRS\bin>.\drs_exam.exe
USB successfully scanned, but no boards found
No DRS4 evaluation board found

Good afternoon, I use 5 boards in multi-mode, everything is connected according to the instructions. Can I measure the phase difference between the two signals on channel 1 and channel 20? with each board the phase shift is added +16 ns I can not figure out how to compensate for this. give thanks

Subtract 16 ns from your measured value ;-)

I understand this, thanks. But my Chief does not understand this, he wants to see the phase difference without “crutches”. And what is meant in the manual 50 ps resolution? Maybe I just do not understand something? And if you submit a reference signal not in the mode of a garland, but simultaneously in parallel to all the boards, will this shift go? Thanks

If you have two signal going through two cables, the cable have never the same length (on a scale of picoseconds), and you have to calibrate that anyway. So a proper timing calibration is not a crutch.

What do you mean by "manual 50ps"? The manual does not mention any resolution. In my experience, you can achieve about 10ps between channels of the SAME board easily. The phase shift between boards in multi-mode is always there, unfortunately there are no cable which conduct current faster than the speed of light! What you can do is to split a common reference clock and send a copy to one channel of each board, then calculate the timing relative to the next edge in that reference signal. This way you get rid of the phase shift, but this is also a kind of calibration, so in your laguange that would be "a big crutch".

You have to change the path to libusb-1.0.lib to the one where you installed it.

I m trying to measure lifetime in our lab and I intend to take
measurement with DRS4 at that point I have a little bit confused about
DRS4 time range. In My system I opened 10 us gate but after triggering
DRS4 measure nearly 1.2 us. Because of this I want to extend DRS4 time range that
measurement range from 1.2us to 10 us.

Have a look at the Evaluation Board description at http://www.psi.ch/drs/evaluation-board. It says that you have 1024 sampling points per channel. So If you sample at 0.7 GSPS, this gives you a time range of 1/0.7 GHz * 1024 = 1.46 us.

Hi,

I would like to use the DRS4 with my macbook pro running osx 10.6.8.
I have installed the wxWidgets and the libusb-1.0 libraries and I am using the Linux code vers. 4.0.1. After
compilation, the following errors come out:

ld: warning: in musbstd.o, file was built for unsupported file format which is not the architecture being linked
(i386)
ld: warning: in mxml.o, file was built for unsupported file format which is not the architecture being linked (i386)
....
....
ld: warning: in main.o, file was built for unsupported file format which is not the architecture being linked (i386)
Undefined symbols:
  "_main", referenced from:
      start in crt1.10.6.o
ld: symbol(s) not found
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [drsosc] Error 1

Do you have any idea on how to solve the problem ?? or maybe do you have a package working with osx 10.6 ? I
remember to have seen, long time ago, a package that could work with 10.6 (or 10.5 ?), but I cannot find it now
(but maybe I remember wrong).

Thanks for any help,

Enrico
